is the helmet also repainted in the crown , under the leather ?

If the split pins holding the ihnenfutter in place are brass rather than zinc then it would be a Norwegian re-issue.
-
I see nothing here having to do with Norway. The leather pins are not brass (see 6 o'clock position pin), the liner appears un tampered with other than your tie-string. The green paint is unusual but that means little. Looks like a runic decal, probably fake that has been scraped away. A slim chance it's a war time applied Pocher SS decal.
As Frank asked...the inner dome paint or lack of might give us more clues. Or...is there any sign of the green paint dripped or smeared onto the liner frame ?

The paint on the dome is the same as the exterior which is why I am thrown off. If it was a field done job then the interior would not generally be painted past the rim. This is why I think it was reissued at some point. The paint is very well done and looks to be done in a factory, however like I said it is too green to be Norwegian.

Just take some industrial aircraft paint stripper on glop it on, that'll take that ugly green right off. Wait maybe that wouldn't be the best idea, lol.
Seriously though, I'm just a newbie and would really like to find something like this. Other than the usual helmet resellers, should I be looking at estate sales, or?

I find the green over paint a lovely color. Especially the inner skirt.

As a new collector, stay away from ebay and don't buy from any local shows. Your best bet (while you learn the craft) is to purchase either here in the classified section or from a reputable dealer with a return gty.
But....who ever you buy from. Always post here for review first.

Thank for all the input guys. I’m debating whether or not I want to sell the helmet as it doesn’t really fit into my collection, which is mostly panzer and SS related items. I will probably end up putting it in the classifieds here in the next couple days.
