Hey guys,
I need help on this one.
Is it authentic or a hash up?
I think the liner has been replaced, but not sure about the rest??
Cheers,

All of it?
The shell is original. The liner, possibly the leather was replaced & installed into an aluminum band post war, hence the kinks & warps. Repro Quist decal. Paint is post war.
When someone inexperienced attempts to install/replace leather into an aluminum frame, results such as the damage we see here can be the result. Maybe what happened here

even without an essential decal close-up one can clearly see the big foot fake decal.
Reminds me of another fake I saw recently where the faker had even added discolouration around the liner pin as seen often in originals.
Whoever made those scratches on the dome was a right hander.
I also note that the wear/chip patterns over the fake decal area are quite different and more numerous to the other tool marks over the rest of the shell particularly if look directly to the decals right side. I assume this was done to draw more attention to the feldgrau paint underneath in an attempt to further validate it as a period painted piece.
