Hi Chris, I am not familiar with the term panzer color, but I think the brown paint is period applied. One of my collector buddies has a brown M42 of a similar shade that he calls a "no decal SA helmet", for whatever that is worth. In any event, I like the paint. Jim G.

Thank you Jim,I am not sure about the term panzer color,I was told that in 1944 they came out with a brown paint color for the panzer and the soldiers started to put them on their helmets mostly found in Normandy.

Hi Jim ,like I saided a friend told me this ,I do not know for sure but it does make sence.

Hi Chris, looks fine to me.
The 3 colour camo paint system for vehicles etc came into being in 1943. Paints were in a paste form, similar to shoe polish. Designed to be thinned with petrol (gasoline). Shades can vary due to how the paint was thinned and method of application.
