Okay, why it is not the Original liner? I guess it's the very Original liner to this helmet... I can't see why not...
Please explane yourself. Thx.
ET batch 1280 and around have steel liner bands.

Thank you very much for that knowledge Schwerpunkt!

Re: M40 SD Heer helmet...
Good eyes Frank, saving the OP from wasting money on a nice chinstrap for a mucked-with lid!

Re: M40 SD Heer helmet...
Unless it is a Werner Zahn liner.......they made reinforced aluminum liner bands until 1943. The leather looks like it could be the WZ stamp. I'd check that out before dismissing this one...
Cheers,
Terry

Terry, I do not say later alu liners do not exist , just not observed on ET's in that range.

Re: M40 SD Heer helmet...
How to see it it's Werner Zahn...? Is there some logo on the linerband then?
-
Re: M40 SD Heer helmet...
Yes on the linerband by the chinstrap bale. The size stamp font-type looks to be for that maker though.

Thanks Krad, but how does it looks like or what does it say then?

Re: M40 SD Heer helmet...
The maker mark will literally say 'werner zahn', or another maker.
