    It's a very nice ND M42, but if it was mine I'd probably find a small spot in the rear and take a cotton ball saturated with alcohol, give it a wipe and see what the paint looks like without the oil. IMO it would change the appearance and look the way it's supposed to look without doing any damage to the original paint finish. Just a thought. The strap and liner are both in fantastic condition. Just a nice, clean overall helmet; great find!

    I hate to be the party pooper but that liner gives me pause for concern.

    That mottled effect on the liner grain seems to be the same that the modern repro liners have, it worries me also, i would like to see the colour of the felt cushion underneath and what the material actually is.
