Just by looking at the wear and tear of the leather itself and the buckle and aging of it and also there's a lot of the voegl koln 1940 chinstraps on ebay and else where.

Hi, a great looking HEER M42, good liner but the chinstrap does look a bit suspect. Still a great lid though. Leon.

the buckle on the Fake chinstrap you posted has square corners



but the chinstrap buckle on the m42 looks to have rounded corners , original vogels / koln straps are out there also!
