M42 helmet genuine?

Hi got this as a buy it now on ebay is it wartime i think it is late war and looks ok what your opinions please as im exactly no expert on German helmets thanks.

Hmm.

The chinstrap is a Czech one I think. Does the leather split into 2 bands for the chin? Beyond that I can't really help. The number stamped in ink is odd, I'm thinking post war use of some kind. The 2 holes at the side for insignia are ringing bells but I can't remember seeing that on a 42. Curious lid.

Might have had the Austrian Gendarmerie insignia in place, post war.

The two holes are in the correct location for a flaming bomb device used by the Austrian rural police during a post war reissue. I am not sure of the chin strap, many of the post war Austrian police reissues I have seen have webbed straps. Jim G.
