Hello,
I bought this helmet last time. Please let me know if it's original or fake?
I think that the liner is post war (re)production but i am not sure.

Hi, its not a good idea to take a helmet apart like that.
However, sorry to say everything is post war (apart from the shell) liner, decal and chinstrap. Paint looks post war as well - paint over pin holes, not a good sign.

I am even having doubts about the shell. 3 digit lot# on an M42 HKP ? Unless a digit missing on the strike.... Though it does have the "volcano" air vents as an HKP should

Yeah, only three numbers visable, I think its just a light strike - as it does display those peculiar air vents that are on all hkp 42s.

Firstly hello and welcome to the forum, I will say that if this were a genuine/original tan cammo you would have seriously reduced it's value by taking it apart. An experienced collector would notice this even when it had been put back together. Secondly, this is not a genuine cammo fortunately, so a rarity has not been ruined. Looks like a genuine shell that has been re-painted and re-fitted post war. The decal is also a fake, sorry. Leon.

The shell itself looks to be original, possibly refurbished, and that's about as far as the "originality" is concerned. The paint is bogus, not only is the camo unconvincing, the actual condition is far too minty for a period camo lid, I'm not even going to mention the decal. Alas, it's no surprise that that the liner itself is not good. Sorry, hope you hadn't paid too much, it can still be saved as a display/reenacting piece.

I will have to disagree with one point. And it is a debatable one.

While we are all in agreement that this is 100% humped up, the "condition" of the camo paint (i.e. lack of scratch, nicks, dings, etc.) is not necessarily a red flag. Yellow flag? Yes (i.e something requiring greater study). But it does not confirm a camo helmet is fake IMHO.

That's true, perhaps I phrased myself incorrectly; the paint on this helmet is a yellow-flag for us as everything else on it is indeed fake, meaning that it is extremely dubious for us to believe that whilst the liner, decal and chinstrap are not correct, the paintjob is.
