I posted a photo of the plaque last week to see if anyone had any information of where at the Arsenal a plague like this may have come from with no luck. My guess is it is a door plaque from the arsenal itself. Today I got the plaque and helmet in the mail that I purchased. If anyone knows anything about the Arsenal at Cherbourg it would be appreciated. The seller is still sending me a photo of the soldier that captured the helmet and other military information about him.

Thanks for the photo link, an hour of viewing some nice old photos. I was hoping someone could tell me about the No A b 48 number. I assume it relates to it's location maybe?

I have no idea about the plaque but the M42 is a very nice HEER helmet, even better that you have the provenance from it's capture! Leon.

I'm certain like most war trophies they were acquired from surrender piles.

It is flat with what appears to be the residue of a glue. I will snap a photo tonight when I get home.
