Default M42 Out of the Woodwork

    Greetings!

I wanted to share my newest. This only makes my fourth German helmet as my focus is mainly US, but this one had to come home with me. From the woodwork what I assess to be an honest, unmessed-with late war M42 (but I am no helmet or German expert). There is no decal or indication that there ever was one.

It appears to have blood on the liner tongues and the chinstrap is cut (short segment is missing). I can only imagine the circumstances in which this was "captured" and made its way stateside. The name "Kreutzer" is penciled on the inside.

All comments and feedback welcomed on this new acquisition! I tried to photograph in natural light to best show the color of the paint.

Very nice with a shortened chinstrap - nice slate grey paint finish as well - good catch!

Looks like a nice honest 'un-messed-with' ND lid, through and through.
It's good to see these once in a while - Congrats.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

A fun style of helmet to collect. Their simplicity begins to grow on you.
