Iv often heard of the very late war m45, but never seen one in the metal.I believe if its genuine the only difference is it dosnt have air vents ,and i suppose the reason being th ey needed helmets so quick in 45 that to reduce production time they done without the stamped air vents.IS IT A FACT THEY WHERE PRODUCED, AND HAS ANY OF THE GUYS ON THE FORUM EVER OWNED OR HELD ONE?IF IT EXISTS, AND IS RARE DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY WOULD FETCH PREMIUM PRICES?LV

It is an original helmet, as confirmed by this picture but whether its the result of a mistake in the manufacturing process or just to speed up production we will probably never know. But its real

    Thanks

Brian Ice is probably the foremost expert on the ventless M42 or the M45, however you want to call it. He has many examples of this helmet and done without question the most research. He has threads on other fora that get into some detail.
