Uh-oh, do i sense the gloves about to come off??
Regardless, it's stil a nice helmet, Steve! Shame the decal didn't survive as well as the paint did.

Interesting about the image of a ship on KM helmets, ive never seen that before, was this done at factory or unit level
Nah.
I picked it up 40 years ago if I remember right. I have owned several. Sold or traded off the others.

No.
Ship designation usually marked on inside flange of helmet in paint aboard ship.
They are very rare. Not many shipboard helmets survived. I have handled 2 in my lifetime both in private collections dave. Hope I have helped educate you a little bit.
I should have mentioned for those that havn't had the privilige of serving in the Navy or Marines, Ships designation means the ship number.

Great helmet Steve.
It does not look like it was used that much.
probably was pick-up very soon after it was issue.
Any info where it was pick-up.
chris
Chris as well as I can remember I got it from an artillery veteran Bill Hicks with a bunch of other stuff. I think he said he picked it up in Cherborge. He was quite a pack rat. I also got a city police shako, a double decal model 34 civic police helmet ( near mint condition ) and a shit load of medals & tinnies and some stuff from camp Dora at Nordhausen.
Oh yea and a package of WWII German coffee.
Let's take the gloves off now gents ;-)
Nice helmet!
