Sorry to bump this thread again guys, but after further inspection of this helmet, I was able to make out a date on the liner band of 1944 with some type of lot number above it. I was just wondering if their is any way to find out what year my M42 was made from the lot number? I am assuming that the helmet was made sometime in either 42 or 43 due to its decal issuing. So this helmet must have been issued a new liner at some point in its career correct?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Aaron, the lot number book actually has a match for that number - ( a SD Heer ) it also states the 5 digit numbering of EF helmets occurred in 1943 but as yours has a decal it was prior to or around late August..... maybe because of the '44 dated liner, it was a refit or maybe the order was ignored to use up stocks???
