I don't either Paul. I hate to be a downer but I really don't like this helmet at all.

To me it looks absolutely like painted over rust. Just to sum it up:

Not a reissue paint job.

No reason for painting it in this color for a combat soldier.

Quite possibly painted over rust pitting.

Nobody can associate it with LW Feld.

Ade and Paul E does not like it either.

All in all enough for a return

The guy I got this from, is a pretty reputable guy. He has never steered me wrong. Is there anyway to tell if was post-war applied or war time field applied?

Im sorry, but No chance of this being a Luftwaffe Feld Divisionen helmet, the color is a different shade, this is postwar painted and the net also looks post war to me. I agree with Ade, return it for a refund.

Got some new info on this helmet. I went tks show it to one of my friends and he said that he was actually the one that sold it to the other guytthat sold it to me. He said that it was an attic find and that it used to be a lot darker color. He said that the guy had cleaned it with something that changed the color. He also said that you can see the Luftwaffe paint on the inside of the lid. Pretty interesting to hear.

The more a helmet needs an explanation the more it's a helmet you don't want. Up to you mate but its a postwar repaint of what might have been at one time a LW helmet. Speaking of being cleaned with due respect your being taken to the cleaners. I'll post my LW Feld Division helmet later today and you can compare for yourself.
