this helmet is the one i talked about a couple months ago about how i noticed that there may be original paint underneath. i already know that the liner, paint, and decal are fake but im hoping that i might actually uncover something original beneath the new paint. heres some pictures, id like to know what you all think. im guessing that the worst that could happen is i find nothing and since it was fake anyway, ill just refurbish it.

it looks like the liner band is original. i am posting a pic of the spot when some of the newer paint is missing. i know it may be hard to tell, but does it look like potential original paint underneath?

    it is an ET68, lot # 491.

its much easier and less expensive to put a repro liner band in a repro helmet that to scour the earth for the right size original to fit the repro shell...well it looks like a repro shell from the pics to me anyway...

I wouldn't touch it. I mean, I would not strip the paint off this helmet.
It looks fine 'refurbished' as it is.

If it has been repainted within the last 20 years or so, there probably
won't be anything original or decent underneath anyway, and it will
have been a lot of work for nothing...

I'd just leave it the way it is, and display it !

Are there markings on the inner rim you could show,
to see if it is an original shell ?
    Regards,

    Steve.
