Re: my painted over m40
you will indeed be lucky if the liner band is original,,,

Re: my painted over m40
really? idk it seems original to me. its got that musty german helmet smell when you sniff it real close. i wanna see whats underneath anyway.

Re: my painted over m40
its much easier and less expensive to put a repro liner band in a repro helmet that to scour the earth for the right size original to fit the repro shell...well it looks like a repro shell from the pics to me anyway...

Re: my painted over m40

I wouldn't touch it. I mean, I would not strip the paint off this helmet.
It looks fine 'refurbished' as it is.
If it has been repainted within the last 20 years or so, there probably
won't be anything original or decent underneath anyway, and it will
have been a lot of work for nothing...
I'd just leave it the way it is, and display it !
Are there markings on the inner rim you could show,
to see if it is an original shell ?

Re: my painted over m40
its really blue, and the decal is a couple mm's thick and ugly haha so id refurbish it anyway. im in need of a sd ss helmet as it is for reenacting : )
