THX for the replies.
Regarding untouched stuff... I'm just a poor comic book artist
As I've said, I won this by "accident", I collect field gear mostly - I did like this helmet - it looks well used, but still not a "rust-bucket" - looks like some original paint (olive maybe?) still present, and maybe some white camo traces...

Nothing wrong with that one, $80 is a pretty good price too.

Everything comes in grades , there a A+ grade ground finds as well. Which have a liner and decal. So it really depends what your intention is as a collector. If you are interested in a helmet's history I would assume you really want an unmessed with find that has all its original parts.
A helmet build from parts is most cases a whole less interesting to collectors.
Yes there are big price differences between helmets that's true but lets be honest and say that this helmet only represents how German helmet would look for 30% or even less.

Re: My very first Geman helmet...Opinions?
I understand what you saying, and belive me; all my field gear stuff is in very good condition - I'm not a "relic" collector...
I have some WW2 Hungarian M35 helmets (2 so far), in what you would call: A+ condition - this is my first German helmet...maybe my next one will be a lot better.
Finding parts for this will be very good learning proccess for me - god knows how many fake, repro chin-straps & liners are outhere.
My hat's off for all serious helmet collectors - I try to do the same with field gear.
Cheers,
Fabe

Looks OK to me!...

Re: My very first Geman helmet...Opinions?
I like it, and the price was nice, I've seen relics in worse shape go for alot more. I keep looking for a shell in that condition.

Be careful, this first toe in the water is dangerous. There are mermaids and sirens living in those depths that will pull you to your delicious doom
