Yes I am sure, theres pieces where the black of the shield is missing and there is gold under it..

just to tell you on these "EF" (HJ&K) decals, the background is white under the black and not goldish. It's why , even if it looks to be a KM , I'm not 100% sure with these pics

A nice example. It was common practice for vets and collectors to lacquer helmets to preserve them. We know better nowadays. I laquered a helmet in 1970 when I was a kid to keep the decal from getting scratched any further. Just leave the laquer as is. We now know that no laquer should ever be applied.
