    Picked this up a couple of weeks ago. I bought it as an Army toned gold decal, and i was right!
    Although it could be mistaken for a KM at first glance. Batch number and maker fall into the KM bracket, but as they say.............close, but not close enough

    Definitely have to look very closely at this one, but I think you are right John. As Chris said, it still is a very nice example. Jim G.

    I'm just curious, what's the differences between a gold toned decal and a km, and how do you tell the difference, and are the toned decals rare?

    You have to look at the details and the construction of the decal. Kriegsmarine decals are unique in that they are layered, and it is really easy to see the layering on a weathered decal. Toned heer decals are the color that they are for many reasons. It could have sat in a smoker's house for many years, or it could have been laquered over, which aged, etc. White things tend to turn yellow with age which makes determining a KM decal from a toned heer a bit of a hassle.
