original camo?

Came across this helmet for a very good price; seller claims double decal that has been reissued, then camoed during the war, with the usual story from the vet who brought it back. Opinions? Think I can grab it for $300.

try to see if you can get some better pictures. these arent the best. liner looks o.k. though from what i see.

I think the majority of people would ask for better pictures before passing any opinions on this helmet.

Here are a couple of more, and a closeup of the decal scraping. The guy says he got it from a British vet who fought in N. Africa and Italy with the 51st Highland division. Any opinions for $300?

I'd go for it.

$300 isn't going to break the bank, and you can always get your
money back at that price. Not often do you find a 'complete'
one for this $$$ today, but I'd want better photos too.
Need to see the chinstrap and buckle, the liner,
find out the size, etc.

You could also remove the newer green paint, if it
bothered youand you were sure it's not war-time.

There are some sites on the net, where they're asking $500
or $600 and even more for helmets in this condition.



Depends on how badly you want it.....

Only if the paint was not wartime added. If it is, which I strongly doubt, it would not shift.

It looks as though someone has just "dropped" some green paint over the top.

what puzzles me is that it looks like a luft blue , now the scratched off decal is on the right making it a d/d but its an m40 , so either its a rare m40 luft d/d or somebody removed a fake decal also its camoed inside the dome, so more pics would be needed ,that green resembles a norwegian reissue but the liner looks correct, or is the blue over the green ? im puzzled rgds Dave

This one isn't worth 300$ nor does it have original camo and factory paint.

The helmet has no paint under the green... Believe me! Thats just pure metal. PASS!

It looks like the norwegian re-issue. Same liner with the grey fat leash holding the liner flaps together... looks like one from a shoe. Together with the green color - and the pure metal behind. I bought one which I thought was luftwaffe colored, but it had no paint at all! only some rests of the re-issue green norwegian.
