I would be more inclined to describe a helmet such as this as a Mediterranean cammo myself. Leon.

Here are a couple of more pic's one is the vet himself holding the helmet right before giving it to me. The other is the inscription o u der side of brim. Sorry for lousy pics still learning how to navigate this site. He also gave me a bayonet and ammo pouch. Do I have to start another thread or can I show them on this one. Thanks for the comments.
    Now THAT is history preserved.

Yes, I agree. If it had no provenance, I would never call a Tan camo a DAK. But if this provenance is true and correct I would be happy to call it a DAK , just not a "pink" DAK

Make sure you ask the vet which company, regiment, division, etc. he was in, and that you record it here. When he's gone, it will be very difficult to obtain that information.

Regardless of the exact color, you can't get much more of a DAK when it comes straight from the hands of the old guy that picked it up himself personally in Tunisia during the war.

I've looked for an outline of a lift decal I just don't see it, what side is it on?, Also the maker and sz are ET 66. My friend told me there was a 104th motorized art unit attached to the 21st panzer regt. I found the soldiers name also painted over on the inside of back skirt.

Yes I did record all the vets info, he was in the aviation engrs. He's 92 and sharp as a tack. His eyesight is very poor. Him and his have sold their house after 50 some odd years. I'll keep in touch with him he's only 5 hrs away.

Maybe it's my eyes.... but I thought I saw a potential decal. The black is where the eagle would be and the red was were I thought I saw the swastika.

    But maybe I'm wrong...

Fantastic that you wrote all the history down. Keep it with the helmet!

Is awesome and getting it from a vet makes it very special. Have not seen dak helmets very often. Nice score indeed.
