It's not what it says, but how it looks. I had a Norwegian reissue
helmet decades ago with a similar buckle.........

The buckle looks odd to me as well. As for the leather, pictures with better lighting would help.

leather still has furry edges... Not good. I bet it still has a "leather" smell to it?

it's a fake strap.

Not an authentic strap. Buckle is not the correct shape. I do not like the cuts and angles of the cuts especially at the tips.
