The decal is E.T. style though. Fulda got a major contract to produce helmets for the KM around 1942. As the KM was a small branch and didn't need ton loads of helmets, Fulda was given an exclusive contract to manufacture them. So say the experts...

Just sharing my Kriegsmarine "battleship gray" M35... :-)
Size 68, and named!

But the most curious about this, is that it was found in Lisbon, in the 70's, in a pile of rubble coming from the cleaning of an abandoned warehouse, it had been there, probably since the war.
The fact of it being in Lisbon is strange, since we weren't directly involved in the war. There were a few Kriegsmarine ships that stopped in Lisbon during that period, though (we also have two sunk German U-Boots on our coast).
