    Earlier, I posted this Quist m42 helmet sporting a green postwar paintjob. I attempted to remove the paint as suggested (see photo). Hope I didn't mess it up. Is the black paint that was left following the green paint removal the original color? Grateful for any comments. Thanks.

    I have just recently been informed that this helmet was used as a postwar fireman's helmet due to the black paint. There seemed to be no more paint under the black layer. I assume it is war era stock that was designated for use as a fireman's helmet after the war. Anyway, I got some practice in stripping helmet paint.
