Hi Brian, you did a lot of work on this and pulled available information together for a good reference. Theory always makes for good discussion! Cheers

Hello guys, just to let everybody know. I won the QVL for $100. I'll post pictures once it arrives
Corey
Nice, good score either way. Will be nice to see more and better pics. Looking forward to it.
What a score! Looking forward to seeing more pictures, never even heard of of a QVL before this!!
Corey - Did the auction house bung a load of fees on top of the $100? I have bought items at online auction and the extra charges totalled around 30%. Still obviously a steal in this case though.
Chris
Superb bargain Corey! The liner alone is worth twice that IMO, you lucky bugger.
Well done Corey, that is a good price regardless of what you find IMO
Brad.
Super pickup
Well guys, I got the helmet today. The helmet is an obvious recent paint job, I'm not that surprised or disappointed. It is an original QVL shell afterall. The chinstrap has been painted/dyed like Andy said in the beginning. The liner I have no idea, but I'm leaning toward it being also post war or extremely late war. The material is poor quality, soft and it has no smell, or at least the smell is masked by the musk of fresh paint. The pictures were deceiving, the paint is a light tar black color. In regards to rare shells, this one turned out to be a pyrrhic victory. I do not collect post war messed with helmets, so this one is not staying with me, unless there is some way to remove the paint easily? If anybody wants it let me know, I'm also considering turning this into a 1500 post WRF helmet. What are everybody's thoughts? thanks
