    Anyone know anything about the Sauerland helmets. I was under the assumption that they were generally scavengers and took whatever they can get. Is anyone familiar with whether or not they actually put decals on helmets? I have an opportunity to trade on this if anyone can help.

    The decal looks old but that doesn't mean it's necessarily genuine. The age of that helmet seems congruent throughout. I forgot to include this picture of the other side

    Sorry, it is not a real one. There should be no snake in the garden (decal).

    Correct; decals with the snake are always fake.

    If I recall correctly, the snake is a misinterpretation of what was simply a scratch in a known genuine piece.
