SD Heer M40 EF64 #1348

Article about: Hi guys! Here is my first helmet in a year. I got this from the MAX show this past weekend. I traded a rough condition fixed bale M1 for it. I don't think it was a bad trade at all. The line

You are correct about the chinstrap - a Czech or Latvian repro - but you got
a very nice helmet in trade. I would have gone for it too................!

( I refuse to pay the exorbitant $150-$250 for a genuine original
chinstrap - so for me, at $20 each, these are ok to use ! )

    Steve.

Yea, you can almost get a new helmet for that much. lol

Thanks for the kind words guys! I am happy with the helmet and I change up my setup every once in a while, usually when I get something new. lol

    Thanks guys!

In case anyone was interested, the helmets I have displayed are as follows, from left to right:

EF66 SD Heer M40. It originally had a layer of black spraypaint over it that I removed, although I didn't do a very good job of it. I added the Luftwaffe bread bag strap to it for display. The lot number is illegible, as is the case with many EF helmets. It has a 1942 dated liner.

EF64 SD Heer M40... the subject of this thread. lol

ET68 M40 #421. I bought this as a poorly refurbished shell so I decided to strip it and try to restore it myself. As of now, it's a no-decal M40 with a net, but I might redo it again and make it an SS.

Q62 SD Heer M40, #DN137. This is my best helmet. It came from a vet's estate in Arkansas. I can't read the liner band unfortunately. The chinstrap was period shortened.

ET66 SD Kriegsmarine M40, #1297. This is my favorite. It's salty, but original. I think it has a 1941 liner band.

I've got a couple other helmets, but nothing too special. I don't have them displayed because I don't have enough room.
