SE to hkp, when did the change start?

Can anyone tell me when SE (& hkp)=Sachsische Emillier u. Stanwerke, Lauter stopped using the SE and started stamping them hkp. I found an M40 stamped hkp68 on the right side. Would that be correct?

I think it is in the Baer book, read it somewhere, but mid war, 1942-3ish if I recall.

THey are very rare indeed it seems to me. Looks like a good pickup, what branch of service is it?

It is a heer with only about 20% of the decal. Otherwise nice.

Helmets made by the Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke firm were marked with the letters "SE" meaning "Sächsische Emaillier." These initials were placed on the inside left rim along side a two digit number denoting the metric shell size of the helmet. In 1943 the firm changed initials which resulted in the new shell marking "hkp." The "hkp" initials were later moved to the rear of the helmet and continued to be used through May 1945

YEs this is why you dont see them much on M40s as M42s were being put into service so this is a very late M40 you have. Thanks John! I knew I read it somewhere!!

Then the conclusion that the M40 model was produced until 1943 inclusive ..
It would be interesting to know the M40 was produced in parallel with the M42?
Or factory Sächsische Emaillier M42 began production in 1943?
