Some of the rubbing of the paintwork is at odds with the actual position of the wire. I still remain unconvinced, but then again - it may look different again when actually being held.

Hey Steve, I moved the wire a little to show the wear. Which particular photo are you looking at?

it isn't just the photo's. I have problems with the way the wire frame is formed. Admittedly what I know about these wire cages can be fitted on the back of a postage stamp (or smaller), but the way the wire is formed wouldn't give much strength to the frame. Look at the top of the helmet. You would (I would have thought) have expected to see the wire travelling from front to rear of helmet to be looped and wrapped around the wire travelling from left to right of helmet. The way it is formed just doesn't look right to me. I'm not trying to spoil it for you, but right or wrong - that is how I see it!

Hello again, for what it is worth , I still think this one is ok ,most of these wires were "hand applied" and each one is individual. There certainly are certain traits that make fakes stick out like a sore thumb but for me this one is looking good. As ever though, when it comes down to wire and cammo's the old "in hand" usually has the final say! If this were mine I think I would be happy with it. Leon.

That is another point that I was thinking of-why the wire is not intertwined with each other-especially on the top intersection. It looks very unusual.

Hey guys, I really appreciate all that you have pointed out so far. This is a very interesting thread. I paid very little for this helmet; and although I feel positive it is good, it won't be a tradegy if the wire is post war. I also have very little knowledge of these wire helmets, this is my first. I have a good feeling about it, but just to be safe Ken N took a look at the photos and agreed to examine the helmet in-hand. I'm shipping the helmet out Monday and I'll update the thread when I get more info.
