    Default Some Camo Helmets

The M40 (with single decal still somewhat visible) and M42, named Weiretter, came from the same US veteran's estate. I presume he picked them up at the same time as the camo pattern and colors are very similar so perhaps they were used by members of the same unit.

The named Q64 6666 helmet named Middendorf with the bit of wire was also vet acquired.

All have been in my collection 15+ years.

Nice stuff you have there. Problem is with things such as this is once you acquire one you just can't seem to stop getting more.

I have a bad feeling about that wire being alpied post war...
can we get some close ups, are there any angle or proofs ( damage / wear ) that this wire is aplied period ?

The helmet with the wire was acquired over 15 years ago - maybe 20. There is old scratching, some visible in the photos, in the vicinity of the wire knots. Based on the provenance, I'm not concerned about it.

When I got this helmet, a nice original camo from a miltaria dealer was in the $200+ range. I probably paid $50 for this one from the veteran's family. The other two, purchased later from a antiques dealer who got them from an estate he liquidated, were $175 each - and I think I got another 10% off that.

    I see, that explains.
that point is, there are a lot of wire configs know true out the years and a lot of period pics have got strange and weird wire configs on them but what is left of it.
    thanks for your explanation.
