Some type of rubber ring on the helmet for foliage you can see the flat part of it towards the front. Very good picture I haven't seen it before. Thanks timothy

heres a interesting photo of a WWII German mortar squad wearing some type of band for camo on a M42 helmet
it almost looks like they used a WWII British MKII helmet chin strap?
