Steel Composition of a M35, M40 & M42 - Magnetic or Non-Magnetic.
Does anyone know what the steel composition of the M35, M40 and M42?
I believe that it is a chromium, nickel steel that is of a sufficiently low percentage of those additive metals that the steel remains magnetic.
The US M1 is a mangalloy steel and non- magnetic.
Would you please check whether any you own are magnetic or non- magnetic?

M35's, M40's and M42's are indeed magnetic. My M40 relic once flew to my magnet that I use for magnet fishing on accident (oops). I haven't tested it out on my M42 but I'm pretty confident it'll stick to my magnet as well. M16's, M17's and M18's are also magnetic as far as I know, but I'm not planning on placing that magnet anywhere near my two M16's for fear of scratches haha.
I cannot help with the Steel composition, but I'm sure somebody on here will know.
Kind regards,
Lucas

Thanks For getting back to me Lucas. I appreciate you confirming what I thought was the case. VMT, PY.
