Yes, sadly changed post war but interestingly in your closeup photo of the air vent you can see the ghosted image of what may actually be the original German decal.
As far as German helmets are concerned they would have to be the most faked helmets of all so it is wise as you have done to post here first for an opinion from some of the experienced forum members. I suggest arming yourself with some good reference books and searching through the various threads using the search tool, then asses the helmet before seeing what others have said.

Do you think the tan paint was part of it's civic life or German? Any ideas as to what was welded on the front?
