The price was a little steep, but the helmet and vet-art looked okay from the photos.
If you needed to convince yourself, it was a good idea to pass on this one. Another will be along shortly that catches your eye!

I would pass on it as well, there just isnt enough provenance, anybody could have painted those markings way after the helmet was brought back
it might not even be the actual helmet the vet brought home, he could have bought the helmet cheap at a second hand store in the 1950's and painted the markings on later
plus it has no name, no way of identifying the original owner
