The lid Andy is getting is an M40 ET 64. It was post war painted a bad shade of green and fake decals applied. Luckily no shell damage so she should be easy to make our marks on!

Yes the color is a bit odd, but the helmet looks in good shape. Easy to work with.

Quick update, I doodled out a very rough prototype logo for the front of the lid (while I should have been working, it's quiet today though ). I tried to make it in the vein of German wartime awards. I like the way they have an image of something relevant to the award in the badge like a flak gun or tank etc. I used the envelope icon for a post/thread, with the 'WRF' font something like the DRL sports badge.

This will probably change a bit before I paint it onto the lid. I'm not happy with the eagle on this version.

How about a good ol' helmet eagle minus the shield outline?
Then it would look like the one on a Heer Fallschirmjager badge but bigger??

Looks good Andy. I think you should just make whatever comes to your mind and not listen too much on other opinions. There will be countless ideas of changes to the design and it will just mess it up. I know because my wife is a designer and customers are the best source for messing up a good idea

I know what you mean Lars, too many cooks etc etc. Don't worry mate if I don't like an idea I am quick to say so I hope the lid arrives soon, should be sometime next week.
