What do i have?

I recently got ahold of a german helmet my grandfather brought back from his time in the army, and i know nothing about it because he had passed before i was born. The helmet is not in the best shape, it spent the last 22 years in my fathers smoke filled house.

Can anyone indentify what this helmet is?

It appears that your shell may be aluminum? Is it very light weight? Please do not try to "clean" it, just gently dust it and leave the leather alone. It is in very good used shape and a very good example. Jim G.
