best is clean the helmet by using oxalicacid maybe it restores the decals a bit and it is easyer to use, and yes it was the name but can not read it

You have a double-decal M35 and it looks to me like the owner placed a private purchase decal on the front. Someone, somewhere during the war must have done that at some point for some reason and it looks like you've got it. lol

The paint looks like a little bit weak, oxalicacic will not erase the decals? Haerle I would not like washing with oxalic acid and lose (I've ever worked with that product, but never helmets with decals, so that effect would not, you say you will not be deleted?)

and you know any reason that could be done? anything about war? (i never see something like that in pictures.. or videos) or just for "personal" reasons?

Well the helmet is probably a double decal heer M35. There is a slight chance that it could be KM but that's highly unlikely, especially if it was dug up in Nürnberg.

There is no reason why anyone would do this for "war" purposes, but there were plenty of decals floating around during the war and after, and anyone could have just randomly placed a third decal on because they felt like it. Imagine a bored guy who happens to have an extra decal and a DD helmet just sitting around his house in Bavaria. He applies the decal, leaves it outside, forgets about it, etc. Who knows. The possibilities are endless!
