It is difficult to use the analogy of car dealers, butchers and the like, to compare them to militaria dealers. Car dealerships deal in one product - as do butchers... and as do many other types of shops and dealers. And so you would rightly expect them to be experts in their particular field of selling. With militaria dealers it is somewhat different. They may well specialise in just one particular area of militaria, and they may well be experts in that field. But you cannot expect them to be expert in absolutely every area of militaria which they sell. They might have a basic understanding of many aspects of militaria which is outside their own field of expertise, but they do sometimes get it wrong. There are rogues amongst them - as there are amongst ANY persons selling goods to the public, but that does not make them all bad. The onus is STILL on the purchaser to know his subject well enough to avoid fakes or debateable items.

And even that money back guarantee is part of the scam. Most money back guarantee dealers have fakes out in the open.
If you do not see it is fake it is 100% profit for the dealer , if you spot it in 4 years you have given the dealer an intrest free loan while your money was stuck in junk. And if the dealer is still in business you can be glad to get your money back. Selling fakes is a win win for the dealer even with this guarrantee.

The whole money back thing makes a dealer look trustworthy , it is the first chapter in the how to screw someone over manual.

I explain this in more detail here :
