The insignia is of the US 71st Army, so my guess would be a trophy helmet, and the winter camo post war.
Activated: 15 July 1943.
Overseas: 26 January 1945.
Campaigns: Rhineland, Central-Europe
Days of combat: 62.
Returned to U.S.: 10 March 1946.
Inactivated: 12 March 1946.

I believe I have seen this helmet before on eBay? Paint is post war in my opinion.
