I bought a relic helmet that had a period applied wire with a yellow plastic coating something that looks like it was used for electrical.
I'm not a fan of cleaning anything more that a light wipe with a rag or sponge won't remove. It's a relic. Keep it dry and it will be fine.by darkmyst

A bit off the current topic (the wire basket) but in looking at the shell, I was trying to find the entry of the bullet. It's interesting to see that the bullet entry almost went cleanly through the vent hole. What a shot!

yeah the helmet's wearer had no chance to survive !
when you see the hole at the exit ,his head surely blown away !
even if he was hidden behind a camo
