No, this is a Spanish helmet Model Z. Fashioned after the German M42 issued in 1943. Although they were fashioned after the German m42 they were made in Spain. The hook in the front of the helmet was used to secure an eagle emblem.

    Hello,
sorry for you if you thought you were buying a WWII german shell....that's indeed a spanish army 1943 helmet....no very desirable i'm afraid, especially in this condition...at least some original paint remain on the shell.
    Thanks

Well thank you all. That stinks man... Oh well another for the collection. It gives me an excuse to buy a real german one now. Ive done my homework and now I understand what fits the german profile for a helmet.

True. You can even get them for maybe 20-30 euros.

Some years ago you could find mountains of them (literally) in Spain...
