Definitely post war. The y straps are enough to make the call. Jim G.
Hi Chris, My only fibre helmet is a prototype style, a double decal Heer with the slots on the apron. Baer has a short section about this shell type, which was field tested and rejected. There is a lengthy discussion about fibre helmets on GHW. Jim G.

Jim being this is a DD is it safe to assume it was constructed and tested pre 1940 .

Pre 1935. I will pull out the Baer book tomorrow and make sure that I post correct information about the testing of this style fibre helmet. Jim G.
Thanks Jim it is a very intresting helmet I was not expecting the early pre 1935 date . I must admit it is the first fiber helmet I have seen and it caught my attention right away .
Regards Mark K
Thank you Jim for the info I will go and look at it.
Great helmet Jim.
I guess I better forget looking for a Vulkanfiber helmet,
chris
Theres some interesting information and a few examples of this type of helmet on the Wilson History and Research Centre: German Vulcanized Fiber Helmets
