Re: Bakelite buckle Wehrmacht

Hello,
It is the only known example in the world.
As there's no official text related to this bakelite buckle, impossible to say if it was a useless prototype or a Probe, ready for mass production. Beyond its rarity, i dare to say that eagle is one of the ugliest TR bird i have ever seen...looks like a pheasant...
No, it is not the only known example in the world. That photo is (to the best of my knowledge) the only one widely posted all over the web but that buckle is not the only one. Indeed extremely rare. There is also extremely few SS buckles in bakelite. When they were made? Most likely I will follow the common conscensus saying late war but German documents are showing that trial samples were already started by 1936.

I agree: a real piece to have in one's collection. Great buckle all 'round. The rarest of the rare when it comes to Heer buckles!

Super rare buckle but I have seen 2 in the last few year. A totally mint one was found in Southern Colorado about 4-5 years ago. My buddy Garry got one a little over a year ago. It showed wear but it could have worn post war. I got to see it at last years SOS.
