Again, some really super buckles! As this thread has now expanded to include conversions to Wehrmacht Heer, here's a real weirdo of a buckle. The box is nickle silver (Neusilber), not brass despite the yellow hue, the face plate is the standard aluminium type used for the "walking out" dress buckle, the box being painted silver to match the face plate colour. Prongs are, again, aluminium, but the roller bar is nickle over steel. All components show typical Assmann characteristics (e.g. box with small ears, Reichswehr laurel wreath and motto stamped into the box, eagle design on applied face plate, bent claws) so I am inclined to believe this buckle was made up at the factory from odd parts.

Has anyone ever come across such a setup?

I think you are right Kurt, with the nickel box and that roundel and the prongs have been replaced or put on at a later stage, it is a bitser if you ask me, nice buckle though

A first for me. I guess the Riechsheer eagle had to be cutout so the roundel would fit. Another interesting conversion.
