Hi Marks, nothing wrong with that buckle, look like a Gustav Brehmer one, is there a GB interwined by the catch or a date under the roller bar?

Marks, being dated 1940 it more than likely would have done, have a look in the "makers profiles" thread I have started, it expalined how to recognise different makers, I have started with Gustav Brehmer "it is because of your thread that I have started it
