The buckle is original and by a maker called Gustav Brehmer, there might me a interwined GB by the catch or a date under the roller bar, either way if unmarked its by Gustav Brehmer, here is a couple for example

Thank you Ben for taking a look. I purchased at auction and then doubts kicked in. My concerns were condition being too good and the color or patina of the buckle appearing brown on front. There are remnants of grey or blue/grey paint but front almost looks like copper color.
I can not find any markings.
My grandfather brought back a genuine belt buckle from the War and he said the Germans had a weird fascination of over polishing their belt buckles.
You have a genuine one and a decent example at that, it's just a shame none of the leather remains on it :/
