    What I meant was that a painted metal buckle 'should' go with a painted metal hook like the attached photo. At least thats what I think - Ben and Gwar would know for sure. I didn't mean to detract from your set Joe, but just an observation.

    Ah ok, no I understand Dan.

    I'm 99.9% sure I didn't jumble them up... Perhaps the vet mismatched them or the German soldiers who originally owned them kept the same belt and changed out buckles?

    In the time of war it all got mixed up, equipment broke, bits were taken from wounded/dead comrades etc so quite normal really
