Hi all .

why waste a good dj buckle
A very interesting piece for sure. First time I see a DJ buckle converted in this manner. I really like this piece! Thanks for sharing with us Yury. Awesome buckle! I agree that it's a sympathiser type roundel.
Rob
Unusual conversion and a first for me also, thanks for showing
Ben
I may have to check the dates but this seems to be putting the cart before the horse. The majority of these sympathizer buckles came out in the 20's and early 30's. Why this rondell is on a DJ buckle does not seem to make a lot of sense., but then who knows. Stranger things have shown up in this hobby. I like it anyway. Wonder what the mountains signify?

This is indeed a curious conversion, however I do like this buckle.
Was it 1938 or thereabouts when the DJ was either converted to a HJ buckle or phased out ? It was certainly later than earlier and as Bill implies, the box is perhaps later than the roundel.
It may have been a "sentimental attachment" conversion by someone no longer of the age to wear the buckle or was prohibited to wear the buckle.
The roundel design and message is I think the symbolic dawning of a new age and I must say, is jolly similar to the D.A.J. badge.

David
