I do not really collect many DJ, but I looked at that buckle last week. I also was not sure about the solder points . Let's see what Ben, Markus and others think.

What is your concern about the solder, has it been touched up, new? sorry Zep but dont understand "soldering initially"
-
Ben, I think "soldering initially" is the same question I had when I reviewed the buckle. As you say, touched up or newly done say to repair a broken "C" catch
-
Jeff correctly, was the repair of the gate?
-
Hello,
buckle over all looks good .
Outstanding the solder points from the catch .
What's the question :
1. Is there patina on the solder joints and it is are brazed ?
2. Or is it with tin soldered ?
The frontside finsh shows no traces of subsequent overheating .
So IMO i think it is the original soldering but patinated ...........

Thank You Markus. I was trying to understand that there is no tin. Very detailed answer, Bravo!!!

I think it's pretty rare buckle and glad to its acquisition.

I would say Zep, you have the buckle in hand, a good inspection of the solder will give you your answer to be honest, whatever it is a very nice and desirable buckle
