Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
To me it looks ground dug, then cleaned up and a new set of prongs and sleeve put on, look at the errosion on the front of the buckle and how it has been "cleaned up" then look how new the prong sleeve is just my MO of course
Ben
Thanks for that Ben , it certainly looks as though someone has tried to clean it up on the front and the prongs and sleeve do look newer than the rest.
What sort of UK value in this condition do you think ?

The buckle is original but not complete, I would estimate between £20- £30, depends on the collector and what he needs.
