i do not know why it is so worn, the inside looks worn also and could be that it was just used for years and it is just worn that much over the years by a construction worker etc.

As already stated on the other forum and reaffirmed here, it is original. I will just add the informational correction here that these injection-molded types are not as common as the die-stamped aluminum variety... Knowledge passed down to me courtesy of Chad Williams

I sense a bit of scepticism here tis true, it was at auction and was not even mentioned in the description, I should imagine the buckle is not worth that much in that state anyway.

I didn't mean anything negative by it. Just offering a possible explanation as to why it's worn. The way it's worn kind of reminds me of how pebbles at the beach become eroded and smooth from years of water washing over them/ other rocks rubbing against each other.
